GEMS Academy (Girls in Engineering, Math & Science)

Explore the fascinating and intriguing fields of engineering, math, science and technology during a full day of GEMS Academy. Students will explore hands-on STEM activities in Western's Science Resource Center and other lab spaces across campus with Western professors, students and professionals in the STEM fields.

Morning Sessions (11-12:30 p.m.)

  • The Art of Chemistry
  • Coding with Scratch
  • Engineering and Design

 

Afternoon Sessions (1:30-3 p.m.)

  • Veterinary Science
  • Geology
  • Bugs and Drugs: Common Infections and How Doctors Treat Them

 

Students are asked to bring:

  • Jacket (for walk to science buildings)
  • A curious mind
  • A water bottle
  • A snack as needed
  • Paper and writing utensil
