Young Democrats of WWU is hosting Women in Politics, the first speaking event in a series entitled The Politics of Diversity. This series will be continued in spring quarter with Race in Politics and LGBTQ+ in Politics.  Our speakers for Women in Politics include: Pinky Vargas, who is currently a Bellingham City Council Member and a candidate for the 42nd District State Senate seat (running against incumbent Doug Ericksen) in the 2018 midterm elections. Dr. Shirin Deylami, professor at WWU in the Political Science department and an affiliated faculty member with the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, the Queer Studies Program, and the Islamic Studies Program.
