A special presentation of Whatcom Symphony Orchestra featuring the combined choirs of Western Washington University Soloists Dawn Wolski, soprano, José Luis Muñoz, tenor , Charles Robert Stephens, baritone Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936, based on 24 poems from the medieval collection “Carmina Burana,” covering themes as familiar now as then: the fickleness of fate, the fleeting nature of life, and the joy of Spring’s arrival. Joining us are Dawn Wolski, José Luis Muñoz, and Charles Robert Stephens, baritone; and multiple WWU Choirs. We will have a huge orchestra, two pianos and celeste, large percussion section, three outstanding soloists, and over 150 singers from Western Washington University, for the largest number of musicians we have ever had on stage. What a finish to our 42nd season! Repertoire Carmina Burana (Songs of Beuren) – Carl Orff A pre-concert lecture about the repertoire by Dr. Ryan Dudenbostel starts at 2:15.
