Canadian-American Archives Conference
“Archival Networking in the Digital Era”
March 2, 2018
Viking Union Room: 565
Western Washington University prides itself on its outstanding Archives and Records Management program as well as its unique Center for Canadian-American Studies. Given the importance of cross-border relations and the unique insights archivists from both countries have to offer, a joint conference was developed in 2014 to showcase important and emerging thoughts within the archival profession and bolster international cooperation.
This year’s theme is Archival Networking in the Digital Era. The 21st century has seen an explosion in computer-mediated networks which allows unprecedented opportunities for connecting, communicating, and collaborating with others. This has opened up new opportunities for archives to connect with the public and allied fields. The way users research and engage with archives is changing, and archives need to evolve in order to stay relevant and useful. With this conference, the speakers will explore the ways in which archivists in Canada and the United States engage with these technologies.
Taking place on March 2, 2018, the conference will consist of four presentations from professionals in the field and a set of round table discussions on various topics related to the conference theme.
